Forgot occurrence process.
Our memory is not perfect. Many things that once known, can not be remembered or forgotten. Today there are four ways to describe the process of forgetting the four are not mutually contradictory, but complementary.
1. What
have we recall, is stored in a particular part diotak material must be
remembered that it was never used, because the metabolic processes of
the brain, slowly trace the material was removed from the brain so that
we can not recall. So, because it is not used, the material itself was gone.
2. It
is also possible that the material did not disappear, but experienced
changes systematically, following the principles as follows:
a. Smoothing:
the material changes shape towards a more simatris, more subtle and
less sharp, so that the original form did not remember anymore.
b. Affirmation: the parts of the most striking of one thing is most impressive. Therefore, in memory of the parts is confirmed, so the mind is a striking passages, while the overall shape is not so memorable.
c. Assimilation: a bottle-like shape, for example, will we remember the bottle, even if it''s not the shape of the bottle. Thus, we only remember a bottle, but do not remember the original shape. Material changes in how the faces of people here because we do not remember it anymore.
3. If you learn something new, chances are the things we remember, we can not remember anymore. In other words, the second material inhibits the material back to mind first. Barriers are called barriers retroactive. Instead,
perhaps we are learning new material that can not fit in memory,
because it is hampered by the presence of other materials are first
studied, the barrier is called proactive barriers.
4. There are times when we do something. This is called repression. Terrible
events, frightening, sinful, disgusting, and so on, or all the things
that can not be accepted by our conscience will not forget on purpose
(even if the process is sometimes deliberately forget that we are not
aware of, occurred outside of our consciousness). At
its extreme, repression can cause amnesia, forgetting that his own
name, parents, children and wives and all matters relevant to himself. Amnesia can be cured through psychotherapy or itolong or through a very dramatic event causing shock in people with psychosis. (Ahmad Fauzi, 1997: 52-54)
