Anyone who has come across a person suffering from
paranoid disorder knows how taxing it is to be with them. People having a tendency to look upon everything with suspiscion is basically paranoid; that is what theory says. But in practical does this sound reasonable??Lets look into some issues bothering a paranoid person; not the ones bothering his/her mate.Am just looking into the issue as a
humanitarian not dealing with the pharmaceutical aspects of it.
Its our behavior that reflects our
mental state.When we are happy; we smile, we are pleasant.When we are disturbed; we are moody, lethargic.Its a very common response shown by any human being. The expression of pleasant or sad varies from person to person based on innumerable factors both subjective and objective.What makes a person behave the way he did is the prime question for any accusation towards a persons act.
People labeled as paranoid behaves in such a way that they are not convinced of anything.They are doubtfull.This is the basic symptom exhibited.Rest of the symptoms are subsidiary or byproducts of this basic problem.So while trying to help them out, first we have to see why are they finding it difficult to believe anything.In most cases paranoia comes for treatment after marriage. It’s the couples who identify this disorder in his/her
spouse.Its late by then.
Our behavior is not something that takes birth all on a sudden.Right from the moment we are in our mother’s womb, we are learning.As a result of conscious –subconscious learning,experiences our behavior is getting modified every second.Or better we can say our behavior is getting affected.These minute effects add on and the noteworthy change is seen when any particular situation demands a response. So it doesn’t make sense if you look into the immediate surroundings or incidents for an answer to a paranoid’s problems.They are people who suffer from lack of
love and security. They must have been abandoned as a child, they must not have received accurate support and security from dear ones.They must have been cheated hard by someone whom they
trust most, which made them lose trust in relations………..
Unconditional love and support is what can make a difference. Now who is going to do that extra
effort??Of course the spouse can.Again it should not seem like a deliberate effort. It has to flow naturally from the spouse once he/she understands the complexity of the paranoid.Gradually they should be able to saw the seeds of hope, trust and belongingness in their minds, which will help them overcome any scar that was left on their minds…If at anytime the spouse feels tired of this extra effort….they should take care not to reflect it in their attitude. The paranoid can sure read your face.
This tells you how important it is to love a person and be loved.At least people who are committed to each other is obliged to pay special care in seeing that.So before rushing to the clinic and injecting medicines….see if any help can be done at home.
