Caring, Kindness, and
My name is Roy Hirsch and I am a person ‘mildly disabled” by ‘epilepsy’; and I
want to help other disabled people.
If you are disabled and would like to participate in a self help centre if possible in East St Kilda; for anyone interested in

One of my problems back in the 1980s was in getting people interested in doing the setting up of a group with the intention of helping others; as I have experienced a large lot of areas I have covered in my doings for others they have impressed those people I did things for; an example to give you an idea of the problems I will write one example that stuck to me for the seriousness. The example is:
Ami & I had a cappuccino on a Friday afternoon as is the usual each week, we had a chat for a short while till Ami told a certain issue that arose; the issue then spring up and it horrified me with this sort of problem that hits a lot of people who don’t do anything about and a scared.
After discussing the
matter I requested to meet Ami at the Corner of Flinders Lane and Queen Street on Monday 18th September 20006.
Before meeting I got in touch with the person in charge who I had known from before whilst talking to her about the points outlined in the email I sent her this morning and I mentioned my friends issue that arose and drew my attention to her department.
After discussing the matter over the phone with the Ombudsman we then agreed to meet at 10 am.
It was now approaching 10 o’clock then suddenly Ami arrived; we agreed to have a coffee and I outlined my words with the Ombudsman and told him they were quite concerned about the issue that he has to explain to them and from my description to a certain extent they left that till later on; we then finished our drink and then we went to the 19th Floor 55 Queen Street where when we arrived the telephone was picked up and then I rang the number as usual then the person I dealt with in the past said they will be over in a few minutes.
During our waiting time I showed Ami a copy of the email I sent to them this morning.
Then they appeared and invited Ami & myself into one of the discussion rooms we were then told to take a seat which we did and then I explained to the Ombudsman the way in which Ami had been charged $399 for his gas bill; and it was pointed of the horrific feelings Ami had and he didn’t know what to do till I mentioned to him last Friday 15th September 2006 about the Ombudsman who I have dealt with on numerous occasions whether it be in water, gas, or electrical problems which the Ombudsman deals with .
The $399 was overcharging Ami as his house is only 10 squares and had been overcharged for undue reasons, and even when he rang the Gas to discus the issue over which they tended to be rude and tell him to get a plumber to fix up the thing; that remark was an utter disgrace which proves the greediness everyone has in his/her bonnet that referred to Ami’s bill he was charged $399 was shown to the Ombudsman and his assistant; they asked a few questions of the size of Ami’s house. Then after they saw the account and heard a few matters, which drew their attention to ring the Gas people and discus, the matter with them and see what can be done about Ami’s problem. Then we finally came to an end and the Ombudsman said to leave the matter about his bill and they will be in contact with him in the next few days.
We said good-bye to the Ombudsman and I made a special thanks to them for their interest in my friends concerns and I thanked them for the enormous time and effort they put into Ami’s complaint.
We then went to have lunch and Ami was extremely thankful to me for the matters I had pit forward to the Ombudsman beforehand. After we had our snack we said good0byeand see you next Friday 22nd September 2006 at 3 pm.
A few weeks went bye and then I asked Ami as to whether he heard any response to his case; he seemed quite surprised and was a bit worrying as I wanted to do all that I can in order that he gets refunded for that horrifying experience he had to go through; I made mention to Ami that if he knows of any other families that are going through the same thing to make mention to them of the help I would be more than happy to do as in my quote it reads “sharing and caring for one another” which outlines the love and affection I have for everyone even those who were enemies once, that has been overcome so I don’t have any which is wonderful as it heighten love and affection we should share with each other.
