Mother in Law
Suffix i.e. in law, to mother seem to have diluted the relationship. Somehow it does not sound
proper to address mother like relation in eyes of law.
Law is enforced. Relationships are independent of laws and regulations, and cannot be enforced. Emotional binding or sentiments based respectful relations are built over a period as ties between husband and wife grow.
Is n`t it an happy experience to be honored much more than what one’s life partner does. You know, why? Simply because her or his male or female child married to her/him get better treatment at the hands of son in law or daughter in law.
I understand, this is a universal phenomenon.
Great is the feeling when you start respecting your mother in Law and truly treating her as mother. My wife served my mother in dedicated manner, particularly when she saw her not physically fit and I experienced, she earned lot of blessings and good wishes. All that effort was not to earn good feelings but a duty coupled with sense of belongingness. The identification was complete.
I too experienced exhilarating flow of energy from the blessings of, best wishes from my mother in law. It will not be honest and comfortable to say that I served or proved to be a very sincere son in law. But I was always conscious, not to hurt or cause to hurt.
The most memorable experience, which left a message, I carried through out was- a humble request made by my mother in law while my marriage ceremonies were concluded and we were ready to depart from my wife’s place  `Please take care of my daughter, she is very soft and tender hearted`. The message though is simple, but it was communicated in such a manner that I developed kind of responsibility, which perhaps I was not tailored to shoulder. though temperamentally I was born practicing empathy.
All the characteristics acquired or inherited by my wife can be directly attributed, though is true for all, however enjoying rendering Services for husband and complete identification with him is a remarkable feature of most women in Indian Society.
Concerns for children and grand children, their well being,daugheters,sisters,brothers in law irrespective of their abilities in terms of earning or personal characterstics reflected deep sense of maturity and acceptance.Every communication at most of the times was enough balanced as if she was exercising an effort foreseeing a positive outcome after that communication. I  pay my deep regards to departed mummy and miss her, blessings ,the most so, thickest friend of my life partner.Salute to Her and feel as if she is around.-                  ashwani
