Islam and social change

Article Summary by: penstar

Original Author: Qazi Zaheer Ahmad
Islam in the muslim world is believed as a religion of tolerance, peace and dynamism. Social change is the process of challenging
the ancient dogmas and spiritual traditions.Western socitieties are are at a criss-cross looking keenly and  interestingly at the muslim world as to  how well  they respond to the challenge of a fundamental social change in their out- look, mental approach  and social actions towards this situation.
With all their claims, majority of mulims in the world have to redifine their approach towards meeting with the requirement of a real social change and preparing themsrelves for embracing the new realities of life.In fact they are still far apart from accepting the truth that the entire world has already changed around them.
In fact social change requires muslims to open their minds, hearts and eyes to the changed social environment outside their own myopic thinkinking.
Practical steps forward in accepting the equal rights of women, learning science and technology and changed social behavior for peaceful co-existence with other religions will perhaps qulify their definition of tolerance, peace and dynamism.Failing which social change and Islam look anti thesis towards each other.
