Feeling great both physically and emotionally is what we wish to achieve when we take up an activity in our leisure time. We search for a pleasurable way of resting and relaxing especially after school or work.
Practising sport seems the solution that brings more
advantages than just keeping you
fit. People
practise variety of
sports:
swimming, jogging, skiing, playing tennis, cycling etc. These are sports that most amateurs are
good at Other sports, like sailing, hiking, speedway, are rather for professionals. Whatever
sport, however, you practise the most important is the fact you do good to yourself Most sport enthusiasts feel very good, and not only physically. The feeling
of satisfaction and often success increases also their self-esteem. A sport frequently becomes a passion, and people with passion are happier, stay young and live longer. Life is more interesting and pleasant then. Another advantage is the fact that you can meet plenty of people as well as make friends. Spending time in some nice company does lift one's spirits. Going further, many people take up sport to lose weight and, in most cases, it gives good results. They become slim and fit which also reduces the risk of many diseases. It strengthens the heart, makes stomach work properly, and often help to overcome sleeping disorders. As you can see the advantages for your body are unquestionable. Let us discuss also some drawbacks. You need to be aware of the fact that overpractising some sports may cause serious damages. You can damage your muscles or joints. It is good to be keen on sports, but you do not have to become a record holder. Practising sport regularly, a few hours a week, seems sufficient. Only professionals must train every day. Another disadvantage can be spending too much money as some sports, especially extreme ones are very expensive. You can pay thousands for the equipment. A friend of mine, who plays tennis, spends five hundred zlotys a month. In my opinion a young boy can easily find another sport that costs much less. My practising basketball is ten times cheaper and we both look equally happy and fit. Why pay so much?
Although some drawbacks of practising sports are observable, but they are not as numerous as advantages are. Using common sense while practising sports seems the best solution. Everyone should practise sport he\she can afford. Money, however, is not as important as the fact that you care about your health and do good both to your body and mind.
