Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development's Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development's recent
study shows that almost 90 percent of Indian employees can lose jobs without any prior intimation, and they would have no legal recourse. Job situation in India has always been bad due to excessive population. People have long stopped expecting privileges such as this, which are very common in the western world. To top it all, there are no unemployment benefits either. This means that a person who is employed faces greater stress if there are any loans, as the fear of losing the job is always there. This
job insecurity leads to delay in retirement planning, and home purchases, as employees require their savings for rainy days. Government has of recent come up with some
social security for the poorest of poor. But even they cannot be given adequate amount for survival due to paucity of funds. Which means the real contributors to the nation's growth and survival will continue to suffer till some measures are taken to stop population growth. It is unlikely that any government will dare to do that, as it would mean risking the ire of some communities. Can 1.8 billion people forming such educated workforce unite to correct the situation, even if it means going against their own communities? If so, there could be hope for future generations.
