The eastern
coastal region extends from the delta of the Ganga in the north to Kanyakumari in the south.
It includes
Tamil Nadu, Andhra
Pradesh, west Bengal, Orissa and Pond cherry. The eastern coastal plain is wider than western coastal plain. The India Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are seas that meet here.
The Bay of Bengal in the east and the India Ocean in the north the south surround Tamil Nadu is on the Coromandel Coast. The main occupation of the people in Tamil Nadu is farming. The Cauveri delta is known for the highest production of rice and is called the `rice bowl of Tamil Nadu’. The people of Tamil Nadu speak Tamil.
Tamil Nadu is famous for its temples, silk Sarees and music and dance. Carnatic music and Bharatanatyam dancing are a part of the traditions of this area.
Chennai is the capital of Tamil Nadu. The longest beach in India is the marina, in Chennai. It is an
important port center and integral coach factory is situated at Permbur in Chennai.
Andhra Pradesh lies to the north of Tamil Nadu. Hyderabad city is the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Hyderabad pearls are famous all over in India and abroad. The delta formed by Krishna and the Godavari rivers in this region are important for growing crops. Farming and fishing are the main occupations here.
Vijayawada is at the head of the Krishna delta and is know as the business city of Andhra. Rajahmundry is the popular town of the Godavari delta knows for its agriculture and non- agricultural products.
Vishakapatnam has large naval base and it is the important port of Andhra Pradesh. It has large oil refinery, a steel plant and a fertilizer factory.
The people in Andhra Pradesh speak Telugu. Kuchipudi is the famous dance in Andhra Pradesh.
