A Growing Issue: The Deterioration of Humanity

Article Summary   by:Cookiemonster     Original Author: Mr. P. Ho
ª

Defined by Merriam Webster dictionary as “of, relating to, or characteristic of humans,” the concept of what it means to be human transcends the physical sense. Perhaps the best way of defining a human is through intangibles and purpose, as in the relationship humans have with God and the concept of rationale and righteousness. To be human is to be subjected to fault and error. As creations of God, humans were not created for the purpose of perfection, but rather as flawed beings for the means of spiritual and self growth in preparation for the afterlife. As a result, there is the belief in humans of a higher power, a power that is beyond human understanding and transcends physical nature. There is also the belief in the after life, such as the heavens, and that the action’s one takes in the present world implicates his/her life in the life after death. Humans, as a result, have morals and a conscience; they are able to depict right from and wrong and are able to rationalize based on their beliefs and values. They are able to understand how every action they take can ramify and implicate others and base their decisions on those factors. Furthermore, every human being has the ability to control his/her own destiny as every decision that an individual makes comes responsibility to be liable for their actions. The human mind is by far the most superior and therefore allows humans to have a greater sense of understanding and reasoning. The brain also enables humans to think in an abstract sense, develop new ideas and concepts, as well as develop relationships and feelings among peers.
A human also has will power, the ability to be defiant and passion, desire, and drive. These assets and intangibles are the unique traits that distinguish humans from every other race and species. Since humans were first created by God and placed onto the earth, humans have gradually begun to evolve and deviate from their traditional value and sense of righteousness. Humanity as a whole has become more individualistic and selfish. The Hierarchy’s of power have been formed over time, to classify the worth of each human individual. The rich are the powerful, and the weak are the poor. There is a great imbalance in the equilibrium and humanity is deviating from God’s intent, which is to serve others in his name. The power of greed and selfishness has led to destruction and havoc amongst society. Treachery and slavery are common nowadays and the commandment’s God created have been ignored. Humanity has ignored the meaning of acting like a human being, by ignoring the value of each individual and creation of God. As a result, humanity has become more animalistic than human. What once separated us from the other races is now gone; the once superior status of human’s in God’s kingdom has been abolished because of humanities disobedience and selfishness.
