PACT
COLONIAL PACT COLONIAL -- The word PACT conveys the idea of "agreement" or "contract" between two people or certain issues. But when speaking of colonial pact, the words took another meaning. Pact colonial indicates a relationship of
domination of a political and economic power on a country or region, generally poorer and less developed. There is, therefore, an agreement between two contracting parties. This domination is such that the production of the
region dominated (the colony) should be complementary in relation to the economy of the dominant power (the mainland). Thus, it should provide raw materials for industry from the metropolis, or
products that it can commercialize. Moreover, the
colony should serve as a consumer market of the products manufactured in the metropolis.
