This is my first review, so please forgive any errors. Facebook is a well known social networking site that became popular on a global level mid 2007. The members have opportunities to make new connections through work and social activities, and also catch up with distant family members that might have moved away or have lost touch for whatever the reason and also they can reconnect with friends of yesteryear.
I see facebook as a two edged sword in many ways and something to be approached with a moderate but healthy degree of caution if you're going to enjoy it to its full potential. To explain my standpoint, lets go back to 2007 when a lot of people but not all were taking their first steps by putting their faces on the internet, along with their personal lives, to a certain degree. A lot of women foolishly displayed their telephone numbers and addresses and quickly found out that their childhood sweethearts they fell for ten years ago were not the same people they were five years ago, from the date this review was posted. Just because they're on the other side of the world it doesn't mean torrents of abuse can't get through to someone's inbox. But saying that we've learned to appreciate our privacy much more, and have learn't that it's always best to ask questions when possible to stop 'Chinese Whispers' from spreading like wildfire although in some cases the damage has been done.
Applications are abundant and if you're struggling in the recession, there are things to keep you occupied at no cost and new people to connect with to stop turning into a couch potato. There are so many nice things you can post to make somebodies day a little less stressful but saying that you deal get crossed threads and posts and there is no way to safely keep these things at bay whether it's graphic or politically over opinionated (we all have one of those on our friend list), which sometimes makes old friends fall out (deleted without explanation). So I think facebook has still got a long way to go before it can be regarded as the best social networking site out there, in my opinion, it's just 'mainstream popular' and there are many other sites out there that have greater users and have been around a long time pre 2007. So well done to it's creator no matter the 'fishy' story behind it's origins, but we want it to be better, right guys and girls?
