Bengali literary award winner writer Taslima Nasrin`s LAJJA is still in controversy for the claim of offending religious views.LAJJA means SHAME. The novel goes to the time of 6 December 1992 when Babri Masjid was demolished.Communal hatred was erupted .A character Sudhamoy  is a devotee to his motherland Bangladesh where he lives with his wife Kiranmayee,daughter Maya and son  Suranjan.They are the part of minority community of Hindus settled in Bangladesh.They have a positive view about their country that it will never let them down.But due to the communal riot in neighbouring country India where the mosque was demolished by Hindu mob ,the Muslim begin to seek out and attack Hindus .The nightmare faced by Sudhamoy`s family is described in this book.
The book is about persecution of Hindu family by Muslims.The author  called for the revision of Quran and demanded changes in Islamic Laws.
The book caused religious tensions in Bangladesh and India and was banned by the government of Bangladesh.The Islamic activists pronounced death sentence against Taslima Nasreen  and offered $ 2000 to anybody who killed her as a result she fled from her native land Bangladesh seeking shelter from one country to another. .
