The BBC Radio 4 team are involved in a Blomsday special celebrating the life and work of the great
Irish and European writer James Joyce with specific reference to "Ulysses" so it gives us great
pleasure to offer Well Done! to Irish Actor from Belfast Northern Ireland viz: Ken Brannagh has
he has received a Knighthood from the Queen which has just been announced by the BBC
Radio 4 team today.
What with the excitement last night of England vs Sweden football batch and family assure me
the results are 3: 2 to England who have won this round and someone outside in the street
gave a yell of excitement so one assumed that it was due to England's victory at the football
game.
The oddness of Knighthoods in the 21st century always make me bill and coo as calling
these men Sir reminds me of teaching for 25 years at home and abroad when my team
and I was Head of Department in Edirne in Turkey were addressed as SIR by our beloved
students who gave us all great respect though we were living in a Muslim country so
we had little to complain about as our students got an A grade for excellent behaviour.
I wonder did Ken Brannagh get an A grade thus calling Ken SIR KEN? Will keep you
posted on outcome and hard work pays UP!
There are a lot of what the Media refer to a Rock Royalty too these days and these are
a constant factor on the Media and the list is as follows:
Sir Tom Jones
Sir Cliff Richard
Sir Elton John
Sir Mick Jagger
Sir Paul McCartney
and the net result is that they still sing, dance and jump up and down to entertain us all
as being their wont now for about 4O years;
I am a poet and I know it! Oddly enough I get street recognition and this always amuses me
as I feel something of the celeb writer here in the South ............ thanks folks!
