Molestation

Article Summary   by:puja
ª

The literal meaning of
molestation from Oxford dictionary is, ‘assault someone sexually’ or ‘harass
someone in a hostile way’. This is a wild act that reflects the dirty attitude
a person possesses. It happens by both genders to one another, meaning by a
male to a female or a female to a male. Of late the world seems to have become
very aggressive in this context. Such incidents are happening more regularly.
Some examples to quote this barbaric act are as below;

1. A
17-year old girl was molestated outside a pub in Guwahati by a mob. Of course
such events have been happening from times immemorial but when it becomes
public, it becomes more painful. Something like this happened this time. The
entire event was recorded by a T.V. journalist and shown on T.V. Ever since the
event, Assam is burning with riots. Different groups are fighting depicting
their anger towards the event going public. The journalist who made the event
public has been arrested and the accused have been arrested, as per the
newspapers. The aftereffects of the event are important but the loss of the
girl can never be recovered.

2. Reading

the newspaper today, I came across a similar incident. A British journalist,
Natasha Smith was also sexually assaulted by an unrelenting mob of hundreds of
men. She says that ‘men began to rip off her clothes till I was naked’. Their
desire to hurt went on increasing when they turned from humans to animals. The
incident happened in Tahrir Square in Cairo, Egypt. She was simply doing her
job by trying to bring the truth to the people, when she paid the price for it.

The opposite cases also happen
when men get assaulted by women for their hunger. Whoever gets hurt, the fact
remains the sanctity of an individual is lost. Is man taking out his or her
frustration in this way? We need to speculate the cause of this frustration and
work on them. Who is responsible for this anger and how can it be reduced.

We are humans and let’s become
more civilized towards one another.
