Tape Tangle

The tapping of phones of influential and powerful
people

has been as old as the Graham Bell's telephone itself.
It

also brings out the voyeuristic tendency in human
beings.

So why is this hue and cry being raised by the
Samajwadi

Party leader Amar Singh over the tapping of his phone.
Is

he trying to hide something? Is there something he has
done

in the last two months which would embarrass his
friends,

family and party? If the devil is to be believed, he is
as

pure as the Ganges, he has not done anything to be
scared

of. Then, why this hue and cry? Is he trying to make
this

phone tapping an excuse for furthering the case for an

alternative front to the Congress party at the Centre?

There is certainly more to this phone tapping than what

meets the eye. The Congress party has been trying to
clamp

on its vocal rival for a long time and the phone
tapping

could have been one of the most potent weapons to
silence

this rival, but the cover was blown mid-way. On the
other

hand, Amar Singh is hell-bent on settling scores with
the

Congress, the phone tapping provides him with an excuse
to

blast the Congress and its leaders. The end to this

controversy is no where in sight, we are going to hear

jucier sound bytes from both sides in the coming days
and

weeks. Keep watching this space....
