Daily Echo

Article Summary   by:SM THOMPSON
ª

I have been living in Southampton for nearly a year and the most popular paper is
DAILY ECHO!

It starts with a repetition of Tony Blair's comment on
YOBS

Mr Blair declared war on Yob Culture: this is anyone who has the long pony tail or looks
dirty and is roughly spoken or who throws coke cans or other items in and around the
countryside or is wholly and totally unprofessional!

There are plenty of them in the South according to The Daily Echo! Three vehicles a week are being
targeted by gangs of vandals! There is a /death fear/ as buses are stoned by yobs! I must remember to wear riot gear next time I travel on the buses in Southampton! Mind you I have noticed the driver order some
passengers off the bus! I thought it was due to having /insufficient fare/ apparently not it is due to
being members of the Yob Culture in England! What next!

Cannot afford a place of your own! Sounds like everyone you know doesn't it unless you are fortunate to live in the rich quarter and have your BMG parked in your drive, own a villa in Europe and live off the royalties of your book from rich and prosperous America! We are intended to attend an affordable event! I must endeavour to pursue this objective.

Epigrams, proverbs ... and so on ... interest the readership here in the Daily Echo and one of my favourite American writers is quoted thus:

/don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first/Mark Twain:

Plenty of local colour and the Daily Echo features the Rock Legends of our day:Sir Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones still draws an audience. Happy Reading!
