Write your abstract
here. The current crisis in the Niger delta requires
we take a second look, it is a known fact that the strugles
in the Delta is long overdue but the question is, is this
the right method for doing it. Yes we agree that he who
makes peaceful change impossible will inevitably get a
violent change , but will hostage taking, pipeline
vandalisation and creation of hostile environment be the
solution, of course NO! A second look will tell us that it
all boils down to mismanagement, misinformation and lack of
foresight on the part of the government. What will have
been achived with careful planning of the stupendous amount
of money coming from the federation account has become a
cake to be shared by the governors and their croonies, what
for example has a state like Rivers which has consistently
budgeeted far more than the most populous state Lagos done
with all the billions it had received, funny enough nobody
is asking questions along that direction, in contrast a
state like Cross Rivers with less allocation is building
for the future, infact a single incidence of violence is
yet to be recorded in this state yet it suffers as much
deprivation as Delta and Rivers. Its high time we get our
priorities right its high time we truly walk the rope of
accountability in public places i do not understand how a
state can collect as much as 10biillion in a month from the
federal allocation yet its citizen live in penury with no
plans for their future by thier elected official, yet
nobody is asking question along this line, a good ledership
would have cashed in on the goodwill the state has with the
oil companies ( just like Duke is doing with private
investors in Cross Rivers) to build schools and provide
housing am sure the oil companies will have been too happy
to participate in such programs provided of course that
they are sure the money will not end up in politicians
pocket or contracts awarded will not become moribound. When
are we going to get things done for ones the right way in
this country, when are we going to learn that we can never
get anything done the way we are presently doing it when
are we going to learn that in a civilised world that there
are technicalities involved in proven a right case, we are
not an isolated world we must stop sending wrong signal
hostage taking and violence will not get us anywhere. I
think even if any hostage should be taking why not any of
this corrupt governors for a change.
