The Guardian

Article Summary   by:SM THOMPSON
ª

Saturday's Guardian is full of interesting news, reviews, sports events and a lot more besides:
for those of us who enjoy Art Carravaggio is well covered in this newspaper/I once saw
THE BETRAYAL OF CHRIST (that was the existing title of the artwork at that point in time/
in a Dublin Art Gallery: it was one of Carravaggio's most famous paintings! I stood back, had a good look and felt here was something well worth giving up my weekend for! It had a quality of mystery about it and the colour and shade of the painting were wonderfully preserved.

JOBS has been of primary concern both to me and my students over the last ten years and I see that there are more and more exciting Jobs on Offer these days than were available to me in my early career days! In those days, it was

start on the /shop floor/
train at work
pay your own training fees
attend the union meeting
solve your own problems
always be ready to move - house - country - place - your job comes before all else!

There are many exciting features in The Guardian:

OUT OF THE SAND is an article about Yemen's most visually stunning Mosque dated:
1504! It is known as The Amiria and was discovered by an Iraqi archaeologist
Seima al-Radi - there are many amazing photographs of paintings inside the domes - very colourful and intricate patterns are visible to all - very good inserts here in the Guardian!

Being a woman I know the struggle throughout life to /stay in work/ /get married/ and indeed /stay single/ it causes conflict all round! A feature today is a Pullitzer Prize Winner:
Columnist: for her reports on American Presidents - she is known as Maureen O'Dowd and has been uppermost in the area of women who write for men's prizes! Indeed she is one such lady!

Lies Sex and Scandal - closes its door on the Profumo Affair with the death of John Profumo this week in his 90s - I note too, that he is joined by S. Milosovic Leader in the former Yugoslavia who was found dead in his prison cell today!

It is strange how these scandals have held over for such a protracted period - 40 years!
In fact I was but a girl, when Profumo held office!

Happy Reading ....Enda O'Brien on BECKETT! And like the great Irish Lady writer I am in this class myself ....Eamonn McCabe denotes the emergence of Lord Heseltine after a sabbatical lasting 13 years due to a heart attack ... interest political reading .... GOOD STUFF in today's Guardian . keep reading!
