NUCLEAR ENERGY ON TABLE TOP Nuclear fusion is the process that powers the sun. If the nuclear scientists can duplicate this process at room temperature, this will certainly pave the way to limitless source of cheap energy. That would turn out to be the greatest advancement in science ever witnessed. This precisely is what the nuclear engineer, Mr. Ruse Taleyar Khan, of the Prudence University in Indiana has claimed to have devised. He explains this process as “cold fusion” using sound waves to make bubbles in a test tube. Mr. Taleyar Khan had been with the US Department of Energy. While working in their OAK RIDGE National Laboratory in 2002, he had published his paper on the subject. He claimed to have replicated the above finding during 2004 as well. The root cause for the unrest of the present century is the quest for energy sources that has become scarce by the day. Natural gas is the only cheap energy available to humanity as of now. Nations vie with each other to get control over natural gas deposits. The Iraqi war and the present crisis involving Iran are due to fear of losing unhindered flow of natural gas required by the economically advanced nations. The attempts at hegemony by the US with the co-operation of its allies are precisely for attaining the above objective. In this process, every other nation is discriminately treated by the powerful nations. In this frantic struggle they conveniently forget the very basic fact that this natural resource is a limited commodity, which will get depleted and exhausted very fast.
The answer to this is other alternative source of energy like hydro-electric projects, thermal plants, windmills etc which will have a combined capacity to meat a quarter of the energy requirement at the present levels. A number of institutions are at present frantically engaged in research projects aimed at un-taping the boundless source of cheap nuclear energy that will elevate human life to unimaginable heights in a short span of time. However, it is indeed unfortunate that the credibility of claim as reported hitherto has been disputed. The Prude University is investigating the veracity of the research results and is yet to come up with any positive conclusions. Researchers in this field constantly get discouraged since results of such researches are as of now very difficult to substantiate and are susceptible to be labeled as fraud. The international institutions like the BUREAU OF ENERGY AUDIT can definitely play an effective role in the conduct of such significant research projects in a convincing manner and for the authoritative evaluation of results with an urgency of purpose. Needless to mention that the leadership of such sensitive projects should be taken over by inter-national institutions alone.
