Dilip Kumar’s bungalow to be demolished

Noted film superstar of yester years, thespian Dilip Kumar’s bungalow was a landmark for many new visitors of Bandra-Pali Hill area. This famous bungalow will soon be demolished in order to pave way for the construction of high-rise building in that location. Dilip Kumar’s wife Saira Banu, however did not confirm or deny the news, but his nephew Ayub Khan confirmed the news. He also said the bungalow in the neighborhood, which belonged to a Doctor is already being demolished. Dilip Kumar purchased this bungalow during 50’s when he was in peak of his career, however after his marriege with Saira Banu, he moved to her house. The house was still occupied by Dilip Kumar’s other brother. The house had a nice badminton court, where Dilip Kumar often used to come to play in order to keep him self healthy and fit. During the shooting of film ‘Shakti’ also he used to regularly visit the court, as he was pitted against young superstar of that period, Amitabh Bachchan. Dilip Kumar’s house is not the only one being demolished in Mumbai. In recent past many other film personality’s house has already been razed. To name a few of them are Rajendra Kumar’s bungalow ‘Dimple’, Sahir Ludhanvi’s ‘Ashiyana’, Sunil Dutt’s ‘Yaadein’, Hrishikesh Mukeji’s ‘Anupama’ and list goes on. However, all of them have been given handsome compensation, which enabled them to make their own house in other location during their lifetime itself.
