LOVE IS A BASIC EMOTION
Love is said to be caused even without our knowledge, effort or control. This is like a flood or a wave, when water enters various areas, without any effort on their part. This has been discussed on the editorial page of Times of India of Feb 14, 08. The writer has given some tests for this purpose. When we love some person or thing, we want everybody to know about it, and want to do things for making him happy. Secondly, here there is no bargain, reward, or punishment. Loving is not for getting a favour in return. It is an end in itself. Thirdly, here the ego gets destroyed and leads to a total merger. It is a combination of both, without any difference between them, if it is a true love. There are no two identities, but only one. Fourthly, there is no fear in case of true love. Love does not go well with fear and desire. Fifthly we love that, which we feel is the best. Hence from our point of view, the person or the thing we love is unique and ideal. This view may not be held by others. Sixthly they have trust in their own direct experience. They have belief in direct perception and experience of life, and not on influences of others.
