Cabinet reserves for the people or for themselves!
The burning of the human flesh, falling of charred bodies from trees, agitation among the youth, gun-shots and a mob outcry bring back the memories of the controversial Mandal commission of the early 90's. Back then, the reservation was implemented for the upliftment of the lower strata of people thriving in India and for better job oppurtunities for the under-priviledged. But, it brought about more unemployment and another candy in the hands of the babies of the big babus.
Mandal commission did very little for the down-trodden sect of the society but sprung up oppurtunities for the well-to-do-papa-hugging youth, who manage out a degree with a SC/ST certificate. Ground reality is that, rather than creating job opportunities for the not-so-facilitated class in India, it brought about agitation among the deserving lot. The like-cousion of this Mandal commission is tempting to get its head up, ever since the UPA govt. came into power. The reservations implemented for the lower sect did very little for their sad condition. High profile SC/ST candidates who dont have the flashy marksheet to earn a good post in a govt. sector or least the private sector, tend to find the reservation as an easy face-saver. And the actual deserving, under-privilegded are beyond consideration by the less-considerate government set-up running in our nation.
A commission and implementation procedure is well required for the welfare of the lower sect of the society, irrespective of the caste, religious or regional disparities. A well-drafted reservation bill which can walk shoulders to the big demand of globalisation, creating oppurtunities for the deserving and keeping a check on those who dont deserve even with that SC/ST certificate is a sure-shot solution to the uncertainity towards the future of India.
