Pride of Performance in
Pakistan
Feudalism has eroded pride of performance in the Pakistani public. Class-conscious feudal mentality detests working especially in the government sector. The government officials harvest fruits by using their position without performing their duties diligently to facilitate the public. They spend their time in hatching conspiracies against their colleagues. They resort to bootlicking and flattery to get undue favor in posting and promotion matters. They spend time in arranging rug beats where they invite various high level officials to get undue favor. Bureaucratic red tape has hampered national progress.
Slaughtering of meritocracy has generated frustration among the unemployed youth because palm greasing and nepotism are ruling the roost. Those who gain authority through under the table means do not perform their duties conscientiously. They concentrate on churning out fat wads of bank notes through bribery to retrieve their money they splurged for getting the job through unfair means. This gross injustice on the basis of resources and connections has generated social stratification. Therefore, these poles apart categories don’t understand problems of each other.
In capitalist society achievement in terms of material means has become a source of pleasure and accomplishment. Therefore, people concentrate on churning out money without giving productivity. Moral values and ethical principles are mandatory to instill pride of performance that have been pulverized in our society. There is crying need of taxing brains of the nation’s experts to resolve its problems. Motorway Police also belong to Pakistan but it is performing its duties dedicatedly and with a sense of commitment due to elevated scale perks and privileges and blubbered salary. Uniform also play a key role in stilling sense of responsibility.
In private sector people perform their duties attentively because of competition. In medical profession majority of the doctors are low paid or working on honorary basis especially during the formative phase of their practice. Therefore, several doctors immigrate to developed countries to permanently settle there or change their profession to get authority related jobs. Those people who consider working menial perform similar duties dedicatedly abroad because of towering salary. Lack of patriotism is a major reason for division in our nation state and lack of pride of performance. Therefore patriotism must be instilled in the hoi polloi to make progress. The developed countries made progress due to patriotism and pride of performance of the publics while those states inhabiting civic deprived of such sentiments are packed with poverty-stricken, illiterate and unemployed populations.
