India Vs Bangladesh

Gambhir and Sehwag continued from where they left in the Pak encounter and floored the hosts and their any hopes of pulling off a surprise win. Batting first Bangladesh were all out for 222 in 49.5 overs. Praveen Kumar once again gave India a flying start with the first wicket taken without a run scored. But for Raqibul Hasan, Bangladesh would hardly have reached even 150. His 89 run contribution in the total of 222 tales the tale. To give him good company was the captain himself - Mohd. Ashraful. He was the second highest contributor with 36. When Nafees got bowled to R P Singh on the individual score of 9, the total was 17/2. From then onwards Ashraful and Hasan took the score to 93. This 76 run stand was the only highlight and consoling stuff in the otherwise lackluster batting performance. R P Singh was the standout bowler with 3 wickets for 46. Irfan with 2, brother Yusuf, Praveen Kumar and Chawla picked up a wicket each. The Indian bowlers were just too good for the Bangladeshi batsmen as they played out almost all the overs with great difficulty. The Indians tore the opposition attack apart. Sehwag sepcially, showed no mercy, literally. Once again he along with his IPL partner Gambhir, gave the Indians a flying start.
Viru seemed to be more aggressive, as he usually is. Hitting 7 fours and 2 huge sixes, he raced to his half-century in no time. He was finally stopped when he was caught by Iqbal off Mahmud for 59 off just 32 ball. But till then it seemed pretty late. Because the damage was already done. After his departure Gambhir took over. Rohit Sharma joined him for the masacre. Playing secodn fiddle to his partner, he made a quite 26 off 43 balls but not before hitting a four and a six. In came the finisher - Yuvraj and got to work immediately. Like Sharma he too scored 26. But his innings was faster. His 26 came off only 33 balls. After sending the ball outside the boundary line, Yuvraj became a little causal and got his stumps shattered. At that point only 7 runs were required to complete the formalities of a one-sided contest. In the meantime Gambhir, playing a mature innings completed his century. And remained not out till the end on 107. India reached to the total of 223 on the first ball of the 36th over.
