I caught the blue line bus from Southampton to Winchester and got some news for my abstract and to my delight I got a cup of hot chocolate on this cold dreary January day ......... and to my amazement the TV was on in The Wessex Hotel in Winchester and the news was all about the departure from the White House of President George Bush! Bush was voted in twice in the American political system but the comment was made that the United States believe that Bush is something of the idiot! I wonder why then Bush was voted in twice and got the Job of President of the United States ... twice!
As a Lecturer in English (TEFL) Literatare Retired ... there was an old joke collected at an Istanbul Language School years ago translated by a Language School in Eskisehir as ... Egitem ... which means in Turkish ... Teacher ......... if one pronounces the word ......... egitem ......... literally . it sounds like
idiot or ee jit .. which means "fool" or "my fool". But it was circulated again ........ this old joke in relation to my Turkish friend in Eskisehir that he would be something of an Egitem and so was I. Well! not so sure ........ as I am a Lecturer in Drama as well as English Retired and He is a Principal .. the only common ground here was that both of us were on .. holiday ....... vacation ........in Turkey ..... in October ........ thus the language joke .. but I hasten to add my Turkish Friend from Eskisehir was not in Istanbul ... I was.
I called my other guy .......who is a Doctor .. and He wasnt in Istanbul either when I was on holiday ........ I wonder where he was .......... somewhere over the rainbow I guess! To make matters clear as mud my other pal in Istanbul .......well! I didnt contact him ....... I took a 4 day holidays and enjoyed myself ......... Happy Days in Istanbul October 2008 ...
