Be it the mega stars Amitabh ,Salman and Akshaye or socialite Sheetal Mafatlal - the law booked them all when they flouted it. The rules are spelled out below so taht you may be aware.
Road Accidents -
1-First of all don't mix drinking and driving.As per the law it's been spicified that not more than 30 mg alcohol per 100 ml of blood should be detected by the breath analyser.It's upto 6 months imprisonment for the first offence or fine upto Rs.2000/- or even both.
2-The speed limit in most cities is set at 50 kms/hr.
3-In case you accidently hit someone crossing the road and cause some injury you are liable to be arrested under section 276 of the Indian penal code even though you may not be drunk and nothing is wrong with the brakes of the car .The penalty for this is upto 6 months jail or Rs.1000/- in fines.
4-It's upto a min. of 2 years behind bars in case you get arrested for killing someone by drunk driving under section 204 (A) of the Indian Penal Code.
5-On being caught driving rashly and drunk, do not try to run away.Admission of the mistake may sooth out the law agency's blow.
Customs-
1- You are allowed to carry into the airport goods worth Rs.25,000/- purchased from out of the country.Anything over & above this must be declared barring old and used personal items.
2-In case you are carrying some item that has to be declared at customs you cannot walk out of the "green channel."
3-One has to pay duty (37 % or 50%)as per details given behind the disembarkment cards for the excessive goods.
4-Only 2 bottles of liquor is allowed to be carried per head into the country from abroad.
5-Surrender any foreign currency in excess of $100 approx. on returning from abroad within a months time.
6-$10,000/- per person is the maximum limit of cash you are allowed o carry of an international trip.
7-NRI's can bring upto 10,000 gms of gold once in 6 months as part of baggage provided they have stayed abroad for 6 months.
8- One cannot send or take oustside India , Indian coins as they are protected by the Antique & Art Treasure Act.
Drugs-
1-You will certainly get into much legal trouble if you serve ecstassy,heroin, ganja or any other narcotics drugs during a party.Keeping drugs is a criminal offence.
2-Growing opium, cannibis or coca plants without a license is illegal.
3-If you are caught at a party consuming any drugs you could be fined Rs.20,000/- and imprisoned for a year.
4-You could be penalised for being at a rave even if you dont consuming any thing.If a test comes out positive its trouble.
5-Even 1 gm of drugs is enough to put you in trouble and daterape drugs like ecstacy are banned by the law.
Date Rape-
1- All forms of sexual intercource without the consent of the victim is considerd rape and is illegal.
2-Sexual intercourse with a girl of 16 yrs or less age is considered rape as per law.
3-There are instances where sexual intercourse with a woman's consent is also considered as rape
a)When her consent is taken by putting heror anyother person she is interested in fear of hurt or death.
b)The husband lodges a complaint. d)When she gave consent she was not in her senses due to intoxication,suffers from unsoundness of mind and doesn't understand consequences.
Obscenity-
1-Although the law doesn't define the limits of nudity,you can be booked for obscenity if you do something which is lascivious or that appeals to your carnal instincts or corrupt minds.It depends on the viewers and is subjective.
2-Showing obscene gestures in public could bring you trouble as happened at the Lakme India Fashion week with Akshaye Kumar and wife.
3-You could be booked under the Section 292 of the Indian Penal Code for possession of blue films and pornographic mags. leading to 2 yrs imprisonment.
4-The display of obsene or naked pictures,cracking offensive jokes,sending emails/ videos with pornographic material may land you in trouble if reported.
5-The section 292 of the Indian Penal Code & Section 67 of the IT act can be enough to book you if you recieve and store obscene MMS's.
6-If you surf the net in a cyber cafe and send pornographic email you could be easily traced.
7-Eve teasing against either sex or any sexist remarks are punishable under Section 425 of the Indian Penal Code.
Liquor-
1-Only 18 litres liquor can be stores at home incase you are throwing a party.Over this you need to get a license.
2-In case you are organising a party at a hotel/bar/restaurant a liquor license is required and the hotel authorities can obtain the same.
3-Only 2 bottles of liquor is allowed to be carried per head into the country .
4-At any given day you cannot keep more than 18 litres of liquor at home.
Hunting-
1-Hunting of any sort of wild animal is prohibited by law with imprisonment of 1 to 6 yrs.In case of endangered species the offence is compounded.
2-If caught buying,selling or wearing any animal skin you will have to pay a fine upto rs.25,000/-and 1 yr prison term.
3-Do not eat any species listed under scheduled I,II,III,IV, of the Indian wildlife protection act 1972.
4-Do not keep any endangered specied at home.even the green parrot and mynahs are prohibited.
