Earth Planet Found Similar to the Own Water
Astronomers have discovered a planet similar to Earth's surface is predominantly covered with water. Planet is larger by 2.7 times the radius of the Earth's radius. Thus disclosed in published research Wednesday (16/12/2009) in the scientific journal Nature.
Planet which came to be called "super-Earth" that was as far as 42 light-years away in another solar system. The light year is the distance light can be gone in a year or about 9,460,730,472,580,800 miles.
1214b GJ planets that is a step forward in the search for other planets like Earth, said Geoffrey Marcy, a researcher from the University of California. Even so, according to research at the Center for Astrophysics Harvard-Smithsonian, the newly discovered planet is too hot to support life.
