The killing of Indian engineer –K.Satyanarayana , by the Taliban in Afghanistan evoked strong protests all over India. Indian President Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh strongly condemned the “ dastardly and barbaric act” of the Taliban , while a pall of gloom descended in Andhra Pradesh, the home province of the slain engineer.
Satyanarayana , an employee of Bahrain company : Al Moayed ,was kidnapped by the Taliban two days. Indian foreign secretary Shyam saran described the killing as “premeditated”. Taliban has demanded that all Indians should leave Afghanistan within 24 hours. Even before a team led by senior officials of Ministry of external affairs reached Kabul for negotiating Satyanarayana’s release, Taliban premeditated his killing , said Shyam saran.
In the meantime , the news of Satyanarayana’s killing was received with shock and disbelief by his family members in Hyderabad. Family sympathizers and some political activists raised slogans denouncing the act. Indian government has sought more security to the lives and properties of Indians working in Afghanistan.
