At 57, the age for a politician is considered very young. Mr. Promod Mahajan, a dynamic cader base leader of the national party BJP, died a trajic death that is uncceptable to the majority of Indian people. His youngest brother Praveen Mahajan shot him at his Worli residence at point blank range and then took a cab to the Worli police station to surrender.
The motive of shooting his own brother is not yet clear, though he cited the reason of neglect by his brother. It is beyond our imagination that a reason like this can make a person turn to so violent. Wheatever is the cause of his heinous act, the BJP leader had to sacrificed his promising life immaturedly. India has, no doubt lost a young intelligent leader whom many predicted to lead India in the near future.
When the news of his brother's demise was given to praveen Mahajan, his reaction was totally indifferent and it seems he was waiting for this news eagerly. Cruelty at its highest form has been seen in his behaviour. His wife Sarangi when heard the news, fainted. The whole scenario by clipping bits and pieces together, is becoming an interesting story. Promod Mahajan brought her brother brother Praveen up and made sincere efforts to settle him in life with his influence in the political circle. In spite of doing so much for his brother he had to breathe his last by the same brother's bullets.
My mind is searching the gist of this incidence but reaching nowhere. Civilized as we call ourselves, should fell ashamed by frequent stories like these in various media.
Scores of people either living life under fear or living life like slaves under pressure indirectly. There is no escape from this although we claim to developed and civilized.
It is not the inevitable happened but the uncivilized society's unlawful behaviour came out in the open. Law cannot stop crime totally. What can stop crime of any nature, is consciousness and that can be achieved by proper grooming of children in the early stage. Promod Mahajan is not alone to suffer this agony, there are many more unknown lives suffering the same fate unpublished. We are feeling sorry him as we have known him through the media and he is a recognisable figure.
As a nation, India is progressing at a fast pace. Easy flow of money is seen everywhere. The repercussions of this is dangerous. The problem, I feel, the progress is detrimental to the vast illeterate population. No, certainly I am not telling praveen Mahajan is illeterate but I must say that the tendency to acquire a fortune in a short span of time has become a regular phenomena.
This irreparable loss to the BJP in particular and India in general will take innumerable time to fill in.
