This is an article about one of Lady Gaga’s youngest fans. Well per say anyway. This little girl was banned from her school photo because she wore her hair up in a tight bow. The bow was similar to one Lady Gaga made famous back in 2009.
The little girl’s school said she was violating the school’s policy on dress. This school has a strict policy on how the children in the class can wear their hair.
I think what school did was both right and wrong. Yes, the school needs to have rules and the rules need to be followed by everyone. However, this was a school picture and students should be allowed to dress outside of the norm, and to wear their hair outside of the norm, as well.
On picture day students should be allowed to at least bring an outfit that does not match the uniform. I do not think I would want my child pictured in a uniform year after year I think I would want to look at my child’s school pictures with street clothes on him or her.
I do agree though the school should enforce the rules for everyone. In the United States, there are many public school districts trying to privatize a little-they are enforcing a uniform policy instead of a dress code policy. This is so that it will cut down on classroom disruption and other disturbances during the school day. This is okay, but when it comes to picture day the students should indeed be able to dress in an outfit of their choosing. They should at the very least be able to bring an outfit to change into, just to take the picture.
