Based on account by Toni Lacy of the Washington PostTennessee State Death Row
Inmate Paul Gregory House can utilize DNA evidence to prove his innocence. Back
in July of 1985, Mr. House received a Death Sentence for the July 1985 murder of
Carolyn Muncey. In their decree to grant Paul House a new hearing- Associate U.
S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote- ``the evidence in the case
was a close call for a jury.`` He further said that Paul Gregory House ``could
proceed with a lawsuit in Federal Court claiming his innocence for the murder of
Carolyn Muncey.`` Ms. Muncey`s murder occured in July of 1985 in Union County,
Tennesse. Additionally, Mr. House`s current attorney stated that his client`s
original attorney failed to call a number of witnesses who wanted to testify on
the abuse suffered by Ms. Muncey through the hands of her husband. Reacting to
the new court pettition- United States Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts
said that the Supreme Court `Majority had ignored a trial judge`s determination
that House and several of his witnesses were unreliable.`` Chief Justice Roberts
also noted that the trial judge had found that Muncey`s autopsy blood was
spilled on House`s jeans after the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) already
had determined that the blood on his pants belonged to the victim.``
