Rahul had spent time in the US to learn flying, but never fully pursued a career as a pilot. He and his friends then started a software company, which was failed. Later, Rahul and his friends started a TV production house. Since then, Rahul has stayed out of the public’s eye, spotted now and then in Mumbai's club and party circuit until his father's tragic and peculiar death. He was even termed as a p3 personality. When Mahajan’s family was in great melancholy due to Pramod’s death, Rahul gave them his full support and took the place of his father without becoming hopeless.
After that he was all into his father’s political inheritor, with his father’s x man Vivek Moitra.
Everyone was shocked when NEWS were approximating about Vivek’s death and Rahul being hospitalized at Appolo Hospital. Reason behind that was Rahul and Vivek snuffed cocaine in a party. Since then he was in judicial custody. Recently he got bail.
When he got bail, in a press conference he said that he didn’t take drugs, all the allegations are false and he is not dependent on drugs at all. And when asked about B.J.P.s support during the hard times he said that B.J.P is like our family and they were with us always when our family was in crises.
Rahul’s sister says that Rahul is a shy and innocent boy, When his father was alive they shared a pleasant kind of relationship, as a father Pramod Mahajan was caring and as a son Rahul was obedient. She also supported his brother’s words that Rahul is not involved in drugs. This is just our destiny because of which our family is facing all these problems. She also said that B.J.P is like our family and Atal ji was always there to help us since our father’s demise and he is like our father.
