UN HEAD VISITS AFRICA'S LARGEST SLUM
The head of the UN Mr, Ban Ki-Moon yesterday made a historic visit to Kibera slums and gave the residents there a reason to smile as he pledged to help the kenyan government with the slum upgrading programme that is part of the millenium development goals. Mr. Ban experienced first hand what it is like to walk along open sewerson your way to and from work and also see how the residents cook along the narrow corridors next to the sewers. Mr. Ban is expected to meet the Kenyan President Mr.Kibaki today and later on plant a tree at the UN headquaters in Gigiri before leaving the country
