Globalisation, here we come!

If you can’t beat them, join them! That old English saying is being literally followed by hordes of British workers looking for jobs with call centres in India. Not too long ago, British trade unions would grumble about outsourcing of back-office operations to India resulting in loss of jobs in Britain. As if to set these anomalies correct, the British newspaper Independent on Sunday reports that recent graduates and those with experience of working in call centres in the UK are queuing up for the same kind of jobs in Mumbai, Gurgaon and Bangalore.
Meanwhile, the customers back home in Blighty would be really happy to interact with a genuine Tom, Dick and Harry instead of those who put on accents and pseudonyms for the night! And nostalgic Britons working in Indian call centres could feel less homesick while gabbing with their customers about England putting it across Argentina in a friendly football international or teaching the Pakistanis a thing or two at the Multan Cricket Stadium!
