TECHNIAL EDUCATION PANACEA FOR POVERTY ALLEVIATION IN NIGERIA.
One of the serious economic problems facing Nigeria as a nation is the high rate of unemployment and poverty. The problem is compounded by the fact that most school leavers normally rely on the government for employment because they have no skill to be self employed. In this resarch data were collected with the aid of questionnaire administered to about 72 randomly selected respondents.Descriptive stastics was used for analysis.Analysis of the data revealed that carpentry and joinery have the least average daily and weeky income uf =N=875.00 and =N=8,375.00 respectively while motor vehicle mechanics have the highest average daily and weekly income of =N11,625.00 and =N=50,625.00. Further analysis shows that 41.7%,44.4% and 13.9% of the students intends to be self employed,aim at futhering their education and wish to take up paid employment respectively.
