WOMEN ARE NOT REPRODUCTIVE MACHINES

K S Sudarshan has angered women by pressing Hindus to have as many children as they can. Women activists feel he implies that a woman's reproductive faculties are to be employed solely to fulfill the agenda of India. The most strident voice against Sudarshan has been of Ms. Bhattacharya.
Ms. Bhattacharya has asked the right question, whether women are reproductive machines. When a young Khushuboo makes an innocuous statement about sex the self-appointed protectors of culture are up in arms, whereas when what an old Sudarshan has said is a calculated affront to women, society and the whole nation, there is none other than one Bhattacharya to protest.
As it is India has enough population of Hindus with fellows like Lalu going forth even without the direction of any Sudarshans. Take Lalu’s nine, the outcome of their going forth, and so on, leave alone the number from the going forth of Sudarshan about which no statistics seems to be available, these self-styled leaders are indeed reckless.
The demographic imbalance which Sudarshan is talking about is bizarre. In a democracy there cannot be any comparison between groups. It is for individuals to decide how they should go forth.

That apart, whatever is the rate of growth, the growth in 13 percent and the growth in 80 percent are logically and qualitatively different and incomparable. So, Sudarshan should stop shooting off your month and giving reproductive blessings to people.
