ART ATTACK !

This is an abstract in agreement to the article by Geeta Doctor titled "So many sides to each coin".
Truelly, how far will the moral police go? Do we really need this so called''Police (moral) Protection.'' This is about an incident at a prestigious Art Institute at Baroda, wherein the institute students were exhibiting their creative work, full of enthusiasm and pride I''am sure , and lo and behold! What happens? The worst, actually. The exhibition portrayed expressive paintings depicting the female form by a few students. The moral police who go by the name of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) proclaimed loud and clear that freedom of art expression is almost a thing of the past, or rather never existed. The unfortunate student, Chandramohan is behind bars and as as an even worse follow up, the Dean of the Institute Mr. Shivaji Panikkar, a respected person held in high esteem in the art institute has been suspended!!
Its one thing for people to have a right to freedom of expressions and quite another matter as to how to go about it. If an artistic expression evokes the VHP''s to express themselves through vandalism, how can they even sit upon judgement in matters of expressions. Why don''t they correct their way of expression, and let a civilised society live by? Everyone has a right to their opinion, but is an extreme behavior called for? I think not.
