KUMBLE-THE HUMBLE CRICKETER
Anil Kumble has so silently and serenely became the highest wicket taker in Indian Test Cricket History. He’s been serving the Indian cricket for the past 16 years performing quietly and consistently. Kumble, who hails from Bangalore, was born into a Brahmin family wherein right education was the hallmark of a person’s capabilities. He studied Mechanical Engineering alongside playing his passionate game of cricket. But he wouldn’t swap his cricket for a job of a Mechanical Engineer. But it is this education that helped him maintain precision and accuracy in his “Line and Length”. In the year 1999 he achieved a rare distinction of capturing all 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan which made him the only second bowler in the world and only Indian to achieve this feat. In his personal life, he married a divorcee, Chetana. The couple has recently won the legal battle for the custody of Aaruni, Chetana’s daughter from earlier marriage. Subsequently Kumble and Chetana were blessed with a son Mayas who is now 2 year old, old enough to realize that his dad is out on the field most of the time. But Mayas ensures that his dad spends the maximum with him when he is at home.
Kumble is fond of photography and possesses a CANON Digital EOS 5D with which he has taken memorable pictures of his cricket colleagues. Comfort transcending into luxury doesn’t impress Kumble much. He has a luxurious house and a FORD ENDEAVOUR car but they hardly matter to him. The likeness of Kumble always seeks for comforts in simplicity.
