Daniel and the Three Hebrew Boys/By Cameel McDonald When Trouble Strikes what do you do?

Do you turn to a friend? Do you depend on your on your own power or expertise? Or do you seek a higher power?

When Nebuchadnezzar besieged Judah in the very year he became king of Babylon he turned some of the boys (captured) into eunuchs and instigated a law outlining what they should eat, drink and what they should learn.

Let us look at what Daniel and the Three Hebrew Boys did in this new environment
Ø The refused the meal offered by the prince of the eunuchs and instead requested pulse and water Ø After being tested for ten days they were proven to be more physically fit and fair in appearance Ø After three years of training and discipline had expired and they were presented and tested by the king, they were proven to be ten times better than the scholars from Babylon. Ø They exercised total faith the God they served and refused to do anything that was not pleasing to their God. Ø Their faith in their God enabled the Babylonian king to recognize their God as the one who knows and reveals all secrets and one who is willing to sustain those who put their trust in him.
Present Day Struggles
A few years ago, before I got married, my husband was betrayed by his first girlfriend to the point where he felt like giving up. He made a total U-Turn from being a “church-goer” to being a “dance-hall goer”. For a few months he was behaving wild and out of control, doing things that were unlike him. Even though he was going to secular parties and having a having a blast, he was being convicted by the Holy Spirit. Later he decided to take a time-out and that’s how he met me. At present he is doing well, happily married and serving God. Conclusion
Daniel and the Three Hebrew boys were not the only ones who were captured by the Babylonian king, yet the others seemed to have given in to their practices, customs and beliefs (I’d like to think forcibly and not willingly). Others may have changed after experiencing what God had done through his stronger servants but why can’t we be strong from the beginning? Friends, when trouble strikes, what do you do?
