Spiritual practice is necessary for self-purification and discipline, but subsequently, one has to go beyond it. This topic has been discussed in Times of India dated Feb 25, 10 on its editorial page. This follows dhyan, karma and bhakti in its deeper aspects. More important is the practice of devotion or love. Love is complete in itself, and it should not be based on any expectations. When there is intensity of love with the Divine, the two become one. God and love are identical. Practice involves effort. However love is spontaneous and there is no effort here. At the end of ego-life of the aspiring person, final end of practice takes place. Then we realize that we ourselves have been the object of the search. All the enjoyments, sufferings, risks, adventures and sacrifices etc. led to the achievement of the true self-knowledge. At this stage we lose our individuality, and we identify ourselves with God, the Supreme, who is everything.
