Istanbul Travel by the Scotsman!

Personal Experience Review   by:SM THOMPSON

How amusing, How frightfully quaint ... all the facts are contained in an article blogged by Turkish Digest from The Scotsman.  Lets face it, the writer is writing about a proposal of marriage from her "Then" boyfriend of 17 years ago, somewhere in Istanbul when sipping martini?  So she took his offer, she accepted him ..  but thats not all.  The real interest of a trip to Istanbul is concerned with fleshing out the story of Anglo Ottoman Empire Relationships with Agatha Christie as the main player and then where did Agatha Christie go to during an alleged 11 days in Istanbul except to Room 411 of the Pera Hotel.  The history of the Pera Hotel, reads as follows ..  - built in 1892 and predates, Ernest Hemingway Hitchcock, Jackie Onassis, and of course Agatha Christie!  But an inset scene in the article introduces the reader where interest is focused  in a little man in a cream suit a funny little man with horn rimmed spectacles furiously scribbling in a notebook ... is it a Film Producer, a Detective who Who is He? In 2008 the Hotel closed for restoration  costing £23 million ..... but has an adjunct relationship would be about 1980s! and there is not too much discussion on this!

Going back to the History of this famous city of Istanbul and its Famous Hotel .... Kim Philby and Mata Hari are believed to have stayed (there?)  So did I .. as well as work in Istanbul a decade ago I stayed in an Istanbul Hotel in 2008 supposedly during the Restoration of this famous hotel!  Should anyone who reads this article wish to go to stay in Istanbul contact www.perapalace.com and the flights leave from London to SAW Airport Istanbul ........nice work!
