Camping Made Easy With Kids

Personal Experience Review   by:Maruko

  1.   Prepare something for them to play with on the car. Magnetic board game is excellent since they don't fall easily, that means no more crying or stopping to pick up toys for them.
  2. Those drawing kit which attached to the back of the front seat is not a good idea since kids get dizzy if they drop their head and concentrate on the paper in the car, and they might even vomit in the worse case. Also those colouring pens or whatever gears usually ended up dropping on the floor and ended up disaster.
  3. DVD players which attach to the back of the front seat is also a bad idea especially on long car journey. Again because kids get dizzy and ended up vomit.
  4. Bring their favourite CDs to play on the car especially those story telling one.
  5. Avoid giving them large volume of fluid to drink to minimize toilet stop. Instead to give them sips by sips over the journey to keep them hydrated.
  6. Buy a small tent for them as their "secret place" to play on the site, or even those 2 person tent when it is on sale. Of course, it doesn't mean to let them sleep on their own at night. It is just for them to play during the day. It may only cost you $20 but it is a great place to keep them away from trouble when adults are busy setting up the tent or cooking.
  7. Let them help with simple task as much as they can manage e.g. giving out pegs to adults or even insert the pegs if they are old enough to do so.
  8. Always prepare extra extra clothing since they get dirtier outdoor, unpedictable sweating  or needed extra clothing during the night because of the weather.
  9. Buy them surprise toy, or make up those kind of party bags which content inexpensive but variety of tiny things for them to expose for hours.
  10. If kids were young and just went without nappy during the night, still give them a pull up as underwear for the night. Since they usually drink more late in the evening after long car trip. Unless you bring extra sleeping bag.
  11. Last and my favourite one here, only for boys though. Bring a 2 litre disposable bottle, either empty juice or milk bottle. It is for them to wee during the night, so that you don't have to go out for toilet trip.
