In the old testament mentioned that the town residence of Lot is referred to as the city of Sodom. According to archeologists position of the city of Sodom and Gomorrah is located in the North of the Red Sea to be exact on the southern part of the dead sea (Lake Lot) called the Valley of Siddim. Archaeological studies show that this place was long time ago ever experienced a disaster so violent an earthquake causing occurrence of fissures in the Earth''s crust. A German archaeologist named Werner Keller said: along with the basis of a very wide cracks, which just passes through the area, the Valley of Siddim, including Sodom and Gomorrah, in one day fall into the depths. Their destruction occurred through a powerful earthquake events that may be
accompanied by the eruption of the volcano, lightning, natural gas discharge as well as the Lake of fire. Meanwhile the Lake of Loth which is known by the name of the dead sea is located right at the top of an active seismic regions, that is regions of earthquake.
The location of the dead sea (Lake of Loth) is estimated to be around 400 meters below the surface of the Mediterranean sea while the deepest point of the dead sea is about 800 meters below the surface of the Mediterranean Sea. So this point is only the lowest point on Earth''s surface. Salt density on the dead sea is very high at about 30% that cause is no organisms such as fish or water plant which can live. Caused by it if the bodies of living things soaking in the dead sea, the body would not have sunk but it will float. Moreover the mud around the dead sea is believed to contain the efficacy of treatment.
