Jaipur, the “Pink City”, is the capital of princely state of Rajasthan. It is one of the most popular and visited tourist destinations of Rajasthan. The city is home of many popular tourist attractions. Tourists visit this beautiful city from all over the world. Now have a look at some important attractions and tourist sites of the city.


Forts and palaces are the prime attraction of Jaipur sightseeing. There are large numbers of historical monuments located around the city. Amber Fort is the largest fort complex of Jaipur located in Amber town at the outskirts over Aravalli Hills. The fort was buildup to the four levels and decorated with series of gates, marble paths, beautiful gardens, courtyards, sculptures and miniature paintings. Top front of the fort also offers beautiful views of Maota Lake. Elephant safari is the best way to explore this grand fort complex.


City Palace Complex, located at the heart of the city is another must watch attraction of Jaipur sightseeing. The palace was the seat of Rajput rulers in past. Now the major portion of this fort is serving as the residence of royal Rajput families. The complex houses to palaces as Chandra Mahal and Mubarak Mahal. A well stocked museum, located inside Chandra Mahal complex is the most important attraction of City Palace. The eye-catching architecture of this palace complex is based on the fusion of Indian architecture with Rajput, Mughal and European arts.


Some other interesting sites to visit in Jaipur are Jantar-Mantar Astronomical Observatory, Hawa Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jan Mahal, Birla Temple and Laxmi Narayan Temple. Besides heritage buildings, there are many other things to do and enjoy in Jaipur. The city is also known as the shoppers’ paradise and famous for the shopping of some specific items like gems and jewelries, traditional clothes, leather footwear, wooden carpets, blue pottery, handicrafts, quilts, sweets and pickles. Some popular shopping places of Jaipur are Maniharon Ka Rata, Tripoli Market, Bapu Bazar and Nehru Bazar, etc.


Jaipur also hosts many popular cultural events as well. These events offer the true picture of rich and vibrant culture of Rajasthan. Elephant Festival, Teej Festival, Kite Festival, Gangaur Festival and Shitla Mata Fair are the important cultural events organized in the city with great enthusiasm.
