Jerusalem is one of the most sacred places in the whole world.Jerusalem is an appealing destination to all of the three monotheistic religions and not only to them.There are marvelous and exciting sites to visit in Jerusalem.
For Jewish people Jerusalem is sacred because on its land stands the remnant of the wall that surrounded the Second Temple called The Western Wall.It is also believed that The Solomon's Temple was built in the area of the Western Wall. In addition Jerusalem is the city where the tomb of King David is located
For christians Jerusalem is considered to be the place where Jesus' Last Supper took place.The Cenacle is the site of the Last Supper and it's also the building where the tomb of King David is.
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is also in Jerusalem,this chuch is the place where Jesus was cruciffied and burried.
For Islam Jerusalem is considered to be the place where the Muhammad's Night of Ascension took place.In this night Muhammad ascended to Heaven in order to meet previous prophets of Islam.His ascending to Heaven was on a divine creature which looks like a horse with wings.According to Islam the place where Muhammad ascended to Heaven from, is Al-Aqsa Mosque.This Mosque was built at the same area where The Solomon's Temple and The Second Temple were built once.That's one of the main reasons for the constant hatred and battles between Jewish people and Muslims.
Everytime I visit Jerusalem I feel such a strange feeling,I feel spirituality all around me on the one hand and the blood of the many people who sacrificed their lives for this sacred land screaming from the ground on the other hand.All kinds of feelings and sensations are mixed inside of me.This combinaion of feelings makes me feel very greatful and honored to stand on the land which means so much to millions and millions of people.
