A country is said to rise and real role in international relations if that country is a superpower. State 'yes-man' and the weak can not be said to rise much less important role and a real say in international relations. Secular Turkish State was clearly not the leading world superpower. Turkish foreign policy remain in the U.S. hegemony or other imperialist countries like Britain. That is, if any maneuver of Turkey's foreign policy still 'under control' superpower the U.S. or the UK.
Politics 'geo-strategic' Turkey is not independent. Western Turkey has been utilized to prevent Russian influence. Turkey advocated the European energy projects, such as Nabucco, which avoids the Russian network.
AKP Party political maneuvering can not be separated from the interests of the United States in the region, especially the shifting British influence in Turkey bersenjatan force.
