ALEXANDER THE GREAT AND TWO INNOCENT MEN
Alexander was a great hero. His father was the king of Macedonia. His name was Phillip. Alexander was a great warrior. He was known as the conqueror of the world as he conquered many Countries.
When he conquered a country of Africa, one morning two men of that newly conquered country came to the court of Alexander with a dispute. The first man told Alexander that he had purchased a plot of land from the second man. He took possession of the land and ploughed it. But while laughing the land, he got a pot full of gold under the ground. He went to the second man’s house to return him the gold.
The second man refused to accept the gold on the plea that he had already sold the land with everything in it.
Alexander the great a patient hearing to both of them. He said to the first man. “Why did you go to return the gold? You could have retained it for yourself.” The first man said, “How is it possible Sir? I have purchased the land only and not the pot of gold.” Then Alexander said to the second man, “why did you refuse to accept the pot of gold? “I have sold the land with everything in it”, said the second man.
Alexander said, “Had anybody in my country got this gold he would not return it.” The first man cried out, what do you say, sir? Alexander said, “Well, I want to solve your problem right now.”
He came to know from them that one had a grown up son and the other had a marriageable daughter. He advised them to arrange the marriageable daughter. He advised them to arrange the marriage of the two and to give the gold as dowry to the couple. Both the men gladly accepted the proposal of Alexander, the great. Alexander was also pleased with these innocent men for their unique honesty.
