The most exciting thing about being a copy writer is very few jobs give you the chance to express yourself and also get paid for it. Copy writing is one of those gifted jobs.
Some jobs have pre defined situations, once you are accustomed to it, and then you know the job, that’s it. Thus killing the excitement. The same cannot be said for a copy writer, though writing for the same product, he still has to match the contemporary tastes.
Unlike other jobs where you can realistically know or measure the progression of a task, the same does not apply for copy writing. You might sit the whole day and still not be able to get that one killer line. Yet if you truly are a copy writer somehow the words flow. I myself am amazed at how this happens, but it never fails just before the deadline the words pop out.
This suspense of - will I be able to submit a copy or not be able to submit the copy is like no other, it really takes things to edge, but then what’s life without a bit of thrill.
Normal jobs allow you to think only in a certain pattern, but as a copy writer you virtually have no pattern to think. You are given the liberty to think and if you thought that the thinking level would never exceed. Just wait till the client rejects the copy. Oh! Boy there you go again. Congrats! I have made it to the next level of thinking.
Finally the best part is nothing goes waste when you are a copy writer. The write up you gave could have been rejected, but the same write up can come up trumps for another scenario. This feel that, nothing is worthless in a copy writer’s job makes me realize the beauty of being a copy writer.
Most exciting part about being a copy writer...its an experience and just when you think its an experience...its evolves into something and keeps on evolving...You just can't perfectly tell that copy writing is only so much, like a book definition. In fact the whole advertising domain is like that. The moment you think that this is it. From now on wards advertising is only so much.
Today onwards advertising is going to be like this. Advertising in future will be like this...You are not fit to be a Copy writer.
I am not saying you should not have any perceptions at all but be ready to change or adapt to any new idea, values, and morals. Just be open and have a neutral look towards life and you some how will always get ideas you never had before in your entire life time and be ready for some unexpected ideas also.
