Guardian Cribsheet

Personal Experience Summary   by:SM THOMPSON
ª

it's interesting to receive the Guardian Cribsheet blogged daily which offers a wide assortment of ideas
for teachers including a list of TEFL Jobs some of which fetch high pay so the issues covered are
diverse and recently there was a lot of attention paid to Teachers Pensions enforcing the Media
on the controversial issue of Teachers Pensions.

On top of all that there are a number of experts in teaching who have been featured throughout the
year but they are overshadowed by the Jobs Section and there is little space afforded to the
featured personnel.

The Guardian Cribsheet has a list of Jobs and there was so much pressure that I scrolled down
and read the lot and decided to email a few links so see what was on offer for Retired Teachers
who never lose a class but just change the venue.

Initially, there was little interest in any emailed requests other than "Get Lost Mate" which none of us
wish to take literally but recently there have been nice messages in my inbox thanking me for emails
and Wishing Everyone Season's Greetings.

The information offered by the Guardian Cribsheet contains pictures and they add to the content
and flavour of the day and sometimes there are references to The Government and what IT
has to offer on the issue of Teachers Pensions so we are all updated on a daily basis.

When I reply to these Guardian Cribsheet jobs I sometimes receive a request to fill in applications
so these requests are usually redirected to the British Council in London who agree to email them
to Istanbul and then comes the reply .. Out of Office during the next weekend and will be in tocuh!

Nothing ever comes of these Guardian Cribsheet Jobs and so I decided to write the British Council
in Istanbul, directly and as a result my work was selected by them as one of the winners of the
writing competition aimed at those of us who live and have lived in Istanbul to enter, write, and win
which I did and I recceived my book prize recently in the mail .... hard work pays salaries and pensions and
royalties .... thanks Guardian Cribsheet!
