Jadons (Jadauns) claim to have descended from the Hindu mythological character Yadu.[1] As the descendents of Yadu, they are classified under the Chandravanshi branch of the Rajput caste hierarchy. However, according to the Rajputana gazetteers, the Aphariyas clan of Yaduvanshi Ahirs also claims descent from Jadauns.[2][3]
They also occupied the forts of Bijai Garh, built by Pundir Rajputs, at Bayana and Timan Garh near Karauli. The distance between the two forts is about 50 kilometers. The Great Fort of Majhola in Moradabad District of Uttar Pradesh was also built by the Jadauns.
Jadons are among the 36 royal clans of Rajputs, they are of Chandravanshi lineage and Kuldevi of Jadon's is Kaila devi at Karauli (Rajasthan), as enumerated by Col. James Tod in his books on "Annals and Antiquities of Rajputana,".[4] Col James Tod[5] Yaduvansh has eight branches (sakhas), given in next section.
In Rajasthan, the Jadon are found in Karauli, Bharatpur, Jaipur and Jaisalmer.
In the tehsil of Khurja (Bulandshahr District), there are some villages namely; Maina Mauzpur, Dharpa, Inyatpur MadhuPura, Achchheja - Khurd, Basendua, Bartauli, few Jadons are also found. Harnagar is the main Village of Haridas Jadauns, from there other 16 villages came out and they are Rampura, Fathpur, Mengri, Bhainsabut, Chainpur, Tatwai, Binega, Machani, Kote, Koobnagar and other 5 villages. These are the major villages Of Jadon in Karauli District, in Madhya Pradesh, Jadons are found in Chachiha village, Kiratpur village, Joura, Sumawali, Sabalgarh in Morena, Bhind, in Uttar Pradesh, Jadauns are found iDistricts of Bulandshahr (Fazalpur,Sohi, Madhupura, Mansurpur, Kasumi, Arniya, Dashera, Khajpur, Jhajhar, Pahasu), Mathura, Agra, Firozabad and Aligarh (Daurau, Chandpur, Panihavar, Chuharpur Nagaliya, Chandaus, Pisawa, Khair, Somna, Virpura, Gabhana, Pahawati,pali,madrak and many more Daudpur) and Hathras(nagla imilia,gangcholi)[6] in Madhya Pradesh.
In Lucknow also there are some families of Jadauns. Jadauns are also found in Bareilly, Pilibhit, and Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh and Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttrakhand. Their main profession in thesKarauli
Karauli is the princely state of Jadauns. Basically ruler of Karauli came from Bayana. From Bayana they came at Timan Garh then came to Bahadurgarh and after that they built the fort of Karauli.

Founded in 1535 or 1540 by Jam Ravalji Jadeja and best known now as Jamnagar. Famous cricketers Ranjit Singhji and Duleep Singhji were rulers of Jamnagar.

Small state in eastern Rajasthan. Predecessor state of Mathura, founded about 900 A.D. by Raja Brahm Pal. Capital moved to Karauli by Maharaja Dharmpal in A.D. 1675.

Rulers of Awagarh are of Jadaun descent and from the house of Karauli. The famous king Maharaja Balwant Singhji were the ruler of this fort at the time of British rule in India. Riyasat Awagarh is related to the main origin of Jadauns at Karauli, as it is said that one of the brothers at the throne of Karauli migrated to Awagarh and established another Jadaun rule. The most famous among them Raja Balwant Singhji was a philanthropist.e districts is farming.
